The great languages of Spain

As i guess that you already know, the basic language in Spain is spanish but as in many countries, the languages also varie in Spain.

I will make a few conclusions about the main languages.

Spanish (castellano) – the most spoken romance language, about 410 million people in the world speak it as a native language ! You can find the most spanish-speaking people in Spain and Latin-America-

On the second place lies the catalan language(also known as valencian) with 9% of the population !
Catalan is used as the national and only official language of Andorra and a co-official language of Catalonia(Barcelona), the Balearic Islands and the Valencian Community. Catalan has even made its way to receive the semi-official status in the city of Alghero on the Italian island of Sardinia.

From then on come galician and basque.

It’s also good to know that many people in Spain are bilingual, so they speak f.e. spanish and catalan.

I personally have been in the environment of both spanish and catalan language, of which i only speak spanish.

When you listen to the catalan language, you can easily tell that it is a mixture of spanish and french.

Though there are lots of languages in the lands of Spain, these, spanish and catalan are the mainly used ones, so if you’re ever planning on living in Spain, you should consider learning a little bit of these beautiful rich languages first ;)
